RAID 5 about the slowest way to write to a disk without using a pencil.

You should never use any hardware configuration without first reading Oracle's documentation
and Oracle has been clear for many years about the high cost to using RAID 5 when it comes
to inserts and updates. RAID 5 can increase the cost by as much as 400%.
