I believe my problem is fixed in 9.2 as a result of bug 2048627 being fixed. My bug reference is 3179915. Agreement for backport has not yet happened.
LOL, when I said delete all temporary tables I meant DROP TABLE MYTEMPTABLE. I apologise for not making myself absolutely clear, I will mark my report as "could do better".
