Hello,

I am putting together an article for my website that explains step-by-step on how to build an inexpensive Oracle9i RAC on Linux using a FireWire hard drive.

http://www.idevelopment.info/data/Oracle/DBA_tips/Clustering_Technologies/CLUSTER_1.shtml

Not sure if this is the answer your looking for, but my example uses an external FireWire hard drive: (80GB BUSlink USB Hi-Speed & FireWire IEEE1394 External Hard Drive). The cost for this drive was $229 and has two IEEE1394 ports on the back for the two nodes you will be connecting. The hard drive will come with one 6' 6-pin IEEE1394 cable and you will need to purchase another for the second computer. (Cost for a 6' 6-pin IEEE1394 cable is around $39). I purchased both at Best Buy.

I am hoping to have this article complete within a week.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
