I can't think of a single reason why it would be in Oracle's best interests to back-port anything from 10g to 9i? Will doing so help them sell the product? Will doing so decrease the load of support calls? Will
doing so make the 9i kernel more stable?

If one wanted to walk down that road then I'd like a patch for LMT and UNDO in 7.3.4 too.

We are in IT. We need to upgrade to get new features. That is the law.
