At the risk of beating a dead horse that won't drink water, it looks like the fact that one might have to re-issue the 'grant' should be taken into consideration when developing one's recovery procedures. After all, how would the person performing the recovery know that a 'grant sysdba' had been issued AFTER the last password file backup? I guess you'd know soon enough when DBAs could not log in as sysdba. Well, this is not really a big issue. Oracle is so darn stable that I have never actually had to perform a recovery in my 6 years of being an undocumented DBA. Regards,
