Hello -

I'm working on setting up a new server for our Human Resources / Purchasing
database. This is for an ~ 1000 employee medical hospital/research center.

Below I have included some fun ;-) ascii art depicting the storage configuration we have.

This is going to be the development server. The database is approximately 20GB of data and indexes combined.

I'm curious what suggestions y'all would have for maximizing the storage configuration to allow the developers to import data from the production instance as fast as possible.

Thanks,

Kevin

Configuration Info:

E450 has 4 480MHz Ultrasparc

         8 GB RAM
         (2) internal 36GB OS mirrored disks

VxVM 3.5 license acquired.

The A1000s have hardware raid-5 engines and small 64MB cache. The D130s are straight JBODS.
Each A1000 is on its own Diff-SCSI controller.

All drives 10K RPM
