As soon as I clicked the Send button I realized I could easily write a routine to check available disk space and use DBMS_PIPE to do exactly that ... and UTL_SMTP to follow up with a purchase order. That said ... the database still won't open the box and put it into the slot ... well at least until version 11.2.
