Thanks all for your suggestions.

We have maintenace support for Oracle, so basically we get new version "free".

The biggest questions are performance and stabilility, if Oracle 10g is better( equal) in performance and stability than 9i(?) I think going 10i will save us a future upgrade( downtime)?
