Oemapp Dbastudio Problem

All,

I am trying to invoke the dbastudio on our AIX machine thats running oracle 8.1.7

but once i run the command oemapp dbastudio nothing happens for a long time and then i eventually get the errors below.

SIGQUIT received at d019bc70 in /usr/lib/libpthreads.a. Writing stack trace to javacore33802.txt ... OK

I feel its a java problem, but i run the command java -version on the machine and it appears java is not installed on the machine.
