If the alternative is spending years struggling with faulty Rational software and creating worthless piles of paper.

My friend and co-worker regularly attends Alistair Cockburn's meetings, and he and the bulk of the Agile Development folks are very practical folks. What they're doing is essentially a reaction to years of software development orthodoxy which has pushed months and years of upfront paper design before a project can get down to business. They just advocate, in general, doing only the documentation and design that's necessary to get the job done.

What complaint, frankly, can people have with that?
