Galen,

I have been designing DB for over 15 years. Believe me, this idea of self-adopting products is quite unique. In fact, it is a hard-learned lesson. Not only the business will change, the people's view (because of new CEOs) of the products will change. We are very proud of our design. This is one design that will last a long time. i.e. we didn't avoid analyzing the requirements, we analyzed them to the bone and discover variables that we could take advantage of. This project has been tried at least 3 times in the past and all failed...mainly because a new CEO will render that design useless. We believe our design is so flexibility that it can even survive a new CEO. Of course time will tell. It is in production now and it is meeting the current requirements. And you know what, they changed their requirements a few time since live and our system adopted beautifully.
