Look at http://otn.oracle.com > products for a list of what is included in 9iAS. And http://www.oracle.com/ip/deploy/ias/ for the 'business' stuff (the stuff we tekkies think is marketing fluff). And http://www.oracle.com/ip/deploy/ias/index.html?pkgsum.html for an overview.

As for 'loading all that crap', IMO Oracle is going down the right direction (even if they are not quite there in the implementation) ... in today's market, 4 GB disk space is inexpensive. Preloading all the stuff onto disk in one shot and ensuring it is in the correct place is far less expensive than having an administrator try to figure out which parts are required and lay them down individually. You really don't need to fire up the stuff you don't need so it's only taking up disk space.

That said, I'm looking forward to the day when they have the integration tight & solid enough that the frequent "it's patchwork crap" comments start to die. Received on Wed Jul 23 2003 - 21:53:03 CDT
