The correct answer is that data loss most often translates to financial loss. But in the case of Orbitz, system failure overall resulted in financial loss. Unavailability of data stemming from system failure resulted in financial loss.

Going back to the original article .. just because they didn't lose data but lost business during peak travel periods doesn't warrant a pat on the back.
