Hi FibreOptik,

If you do not have a copy of Oracle yet you could purchase the book "Oracle 8i for Linux - starter kit" by Bobrowski - published by Osborne - there is also an NT version if you can find a copy still.

It is a bit out of date now but includes Oracle 8i for linux on CD (so no downloads), it includes an introduction to Oracle concepts, installation, backup and recovery accessing the database, application dev and there is some example data and examples to work through -

Its an option that covers most bases for you.
