Oracle 8i (32bit) can run on AIX5L with a 64bit kernel - a patch for 8i is available.

Oracle 8i (64bit) doesn't work on any version of AIX5L -- use the 32 bits version. As I said above, this will work on the AIX5L 64bit kernel with the correct Oracle patch.
