I upgraded a few databases from 8.1.6 to (I couldn't go directly from 8.1.6 to 9.2.0 with the GUI's) 8.1.7 to 9.2.0 with the oracle GUIs, (their names keep changing) on Solaris, and I didn't have any problems at all. Some of the databases used intermedia/text and all was good, nice and simple. Afterwards, I converted the spfile back to a pfile as that is our preference.

| A question for all experts here. When upgrading database 817 to 920 on
| Windows AD 2000, will you do it manually or via DUA (database upgrade
| assistant)? Will the decision depend on db size, down time allowed,
feature
| used (i.e. interMedia, spatial etc.) and number of db objects?
|
| Appreciate your answers.
