I've heard that the biggest problem Oracle has with RAID 1 is customer misconceptions, followed closely by competitor's FUD <g>. Technically, I have not run across any issues (other than ensuring the array is properly configured).

Note that the above statement does not apply to RAID 5. And you might want to recheck with the customer - I found a fair number of them get the gossip & discusisons around RAID 1 & 5 confused.
