It depends.

If you NEVER want to use DB_LINKS from within an Oracle server DB, then you don't need a HOST file on the server.

If you connect from a client PC to the DB server using the IP# of the DB server, you don't need one on the client either. Received on Mon Jun 09 2003 - 19:26:10 CDT
