Yes you can. Install 9i in a second home. Before installation, make sure you have all OS patches installed and Oracle 9i required libraries present. It is all listed in 9i installation doc for AIX.

You can install 64 bit 9i on AIX 5.x kernel running in 32 bit mode as long as
you have,
1) 64 bit processor and
2) 64 bit application environment enabled.
