I'd guess he means that, as an instructor, he is curious why the questions he assigns to students or indicates will be on the test at the end of the semester seem to become frequent topics in the group.

I think he is not necessarily implying you are a student. He does seem to imply that many students feel asking in the newsgroup is easier than reading the manuals or courseware.

One of the reasons you will find many, many responses are simply RTFM (occasionally with a pointer to the FM) is that there are a few lazy, or semi-literate, students who spoil it for everyone else.

If you are truly not a student, then you have the poor fortune of asking a serious question that happens to be covered in a course currently running. To get more than glib responses, you are encouraged to demonstrate the effort you have expended towards unravelling your difficulty. Received on Wed Jun 04 2003 - 21:43:57 CDT
