The way you ask the question - it seems you want to get support on the operating system .... why don't you want support on the database?

Conversely, why bother upgrading the OS if you don't want the database supported?

The question is not sarcastic: there are many reasons for thinking you want to do this, incuding "the app doesn't support the upgrade". If the app is critical to the company, management should/will fund the app upgrade to a supported version. If it's not so critical, you are wasting your time. And if management is pushing for the unsupported combination, you might want to review your resume.

At the very least, check out why you can not move up to Oracle 7.3? Still not supported (if I'm not mistaken, this is on extended support for Solaris 7 & 8) - but you'll have friends who can help.

Finally - please don't cross post. The same people read all the groups. Received on Mon May 26 2003 - 10:14:14 CDT
