Character conversion

Hi all,

I am facing an odd problem.

We are trying to do a select from remote database (actually it is a SAP with 8i) to a destination database 9iRel2 (char set is american_america.WE8ISO8859P1). And during some selects query returns some special characters with number values...

What might be the reason?
