| I would like to install multiple instances on my system. I am
| installing Oracle 9.2 on Win2K system.
|
| Do I have to create a seperate home for each instance of can you have
| multiple instances per Oracle Home (in other words does installing a
| new instance also mean installing another set of software product
| files.....)
|
| Thanks

You can create as many instances as you want in one oracle home (given the resources).
It's obvious all databases in one home must all run the same version and patch level.
In other words: when you apply a patch, you must also patch all databases. You can have multiple oracle homes in one machine. You can move databases from one home to another home (if the upgrade/downgrade path is supported).
Applies for Windows 98/ME/2K/XP (V8 and higher) and Unix and VMS systems for standard and enterprise edition. Received on Tue May 06 2003 - 15:51:58 CDT
