Isn't the issue physical database layout to proactively avoid the performance problems?

And isn't it important to define what those problems might be? Multiuser contention negating separation advantages is a red herring when management is upset that month-end overnight update/reporting or periodic MRP runs take too long - and it could have been avoided.

Of course, I don't have a problem with coming in later to fix other people's problems, as long as I get the big bucks! :-)
