That was my understanding too.
Only thing I can think of is, there is more to X than
just the low-level X-server and that may be what he's
talking about.
Like:
- one box runs the X-app. Like xterm, xeyes, whatever.
- one box runs the X window manager layer. This can be
the same as above or any other one. It responds to the X
window manager calls from the X-apps above.
- the X-terminal just runs the low level X-server. This responds
to the low level dirct X-calls from the window manager box.
Could the middle box above be what he's calling the "X-server"?
