I ran this statement on one of our servers.

SQL> select * from v$version;

BANNER

Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.7.3.0 - 64bit Production PL/SQL Release 8.1.7.3.0 - Production
CORE 8.1.7.0.0 Production
TNS for HPUX: Version 8.1.7.3.0 - Production NLSRTL Version 3.4.1.0.0 - Production

The reason I did is because we are getting an error:

     ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [2865]

This bug was supposedly fixed in patch 8.1.7.1. Now, I KNOW I applied patch 8.1.7.3 so why doesn't the CORE reflect that? Should it?

I don't quite understand Oracle patches... Thanks!
