Yes, there is a procedure document that describes the process. Last time I looked, it was on Metalink. Therefore, I suggest ... if you are quite sure that you can eliminate the Oracle home in question, ...

-1) Ensure your support contract is up todate.

  1. If it is, get on to Metalink and search for the tech document which describes this process in reasonably good detail.
  2. If is is not, try the following steps, with extreme emphasis on step 0)
  3. Make a good backup, and ensure it is useable.
  4. use the Oracle Installer to 'uninstall'. This will remove the internal references to the inventory, and a lot of the secondary references to the Oracle home used by other Oracle products
  5. delete, erase, remove or otherwise get rid of all the files in the Oracle home.
  6. In the case of Windows, manually ensure the registry is appropriately cleaned as well.
