to which I would add :

Beginning Oracle Programming by Dillon, Kyte, HJ Rogers et al.

Not simply because it is for beginning Oralce programmers, but because there is a huge amount of information on how Oracle does things, best use of indexes, how to use SQLPLus etc etc. I bought this book to help teach my wife Oracle and I've kept it for myself - it is excellent.
