Yet another dumb question...  Can you use a) a newer version of the client
(and therefore, OCI), or b) a different library?



The folks at crlab (www.crlab.com) make a library that can bypass the OCI
and talk to the server directly (by doing what the Java thin driver does)...
This is server version dependant, though...
