PB with charset after migration

Hello everybody,
I'm a young dba, and I think i made an error during a database migration.

I made a migration of an oracle 7.3.4 to oracle 8.1.7 and it's OK. But the oracle 7.3.4 have nls parameter for France (charset WE8ISO8859P1) and the oracle 8.1.7 have nls parameter for America (charset US7ASCII).

I want to know how to repair my mistake (because some letter like "é" or "à" are replaced by "e" or "a").

If someone can help me.
