I usually set high stripe size of 256x4=1m for Datawarehouse since I do lot of scans. Strize size * stripe width (number of devices striped) gives you a stripe depth. Solaris can do a maxio size of 1m as of 2.8. vio_max (IIRC) has to be set to 2048 in /etc/system for Veritas to do 1 meg I/O's. Your init.ora read i/o count may need adjusted based on your db_block_size.

For OLTP, I usally set at 128k or 64k. IIRC, Volume Manager defaults to 128k.
