Since you are hosed by Oracle, any data may be corrupted.

With that in mind, however, unix has a strings command which, while very dangerous for this sort of activity, may indeed allow you to get at least character data back. Depending on which tools you use, sometimes long line lengths (ie, lots of columns) can burn you with this method.

The other export bug which has been known for a few months I believe simply loses repetitive data.
