How to drop a datafile that has been offline?

One of our DBA's created a new tablespace and changed the name of a datafile or something to that affect, anyway, the tablespace is online but one of it's datafiles has been offline and needs to be deleted.

Is there a way to remove this datafile w/o having to rebuild the tablespace? We are running 8.1.7.4 on Solaris 8 64-bit.

Thx,
CC
