Can't install Oracle PE 9i?

I suspect the P4 problem has been solved in 9i since I've installed PE and EE on a couple of P4 systems just recently. 817 did have problems with the installer.

The OP's problem sound to me like a corruption somewhere (illegal instruction) and could be in the Java runtimes or in the Oracle program being run - the installer.

It seems to me like the same error java installer had with P4 processor, have you tried patching installer with the patches for P4?
