Websphere 3.5.6
AIX 5.1
Oracle 8.1.7.4.0

When we restart Websphere services on the box, it comes up successfully from an application point of view and can connect to the Websphere database.

However on 3 occasions the oracle background processes for the instance running Websphere do not exist after start up. ie. Running:

ps -ef |grep -i ora_

does not show the background processes. The database appears to be running and when DBA's log on v$instance shows that the database is Websphere...

To retrieve this Oracle the DBA's have to shutdown, abort and restart the Oracle database.

Anybody experiencing this type of issue?

Cheers,

jfletcher
