As I see it the big problem with taking the position that I and others on these groups do, is that it is very easy to read what we are saying as 'Do not split tables and indexes' and not what we do try to say which is something along the lines of "Spread IO as evenly as possible across available devices, the traditional rule of thumb for this 'split tables from their indexes' may well not achieve the desired results".
