It's one of those "hand-me-down" scripts. I got it from a friend couple of years ago and he got it from someone else and so on. Not sure who the original author is. However, I did tweaked it a bit to make it work in our env.

Like I said before, it is usefull when run periodically just to gauge the impact of fluctuating users on shared_pool_size + as you mentioned...someone who is just starting out can use it as a starting point.
