Just a quick clarification - gritto could also use a recreated controlfile (as opposed to a backed up binary version from a time prior to the tablespace drop) for this recovery scenario. Just in case - in the rare, outside chance mind you ;) - gritto didn't backup the controlfiles with the rest of the datafiles during the cold backup.
