Thanks for the response. The server has approx 50 users. The effect
happens on various tables and with various select statements. The
most recent problem was from a Stock TX file which only grows, no
edits or deletes. The query would return (for example) 3000 rows.
The next time it would return 500 rows, and then after that 3000
again. Where 3000 is the correct number. The problem shows itself as
always returning *less* rows than is correct
I also very much doubt that it is fully down to Oracle, it wouldn't be where it was if it was incapable of a simple select,I suspect it may be the application enviroment (possibly the middleware), but all tests have so far *seemed* to show that this is what is returned by the server. As it happens so intermittently it is difficult to test for. Is it possible that the network could be responsible (grasps at straws) ? I only posted here because of the wealth of experience of some of the posters.
