If the machines are Unix variant, you need to catch:

  1. All of the Kernel settings..i.e 9i requirements will suffice for all of previous versions..
  2. All of the Unix OS patches..as in Release Notes..
  3. Your OS helps to be 64-bit ... Otherwise, you have 3.75GB Total SGA limit...
