pb starting Oracle 9i on Linux

Hi,

I recently installed Oracle 9i on Linux. Everything went fine, but, when I tried to start the database this message showed up :

[oracle_at_Rodan oracle]$ sqlplus /nolog

SQL*Plus: Release 9.2.0.1.0 - Production on Lu Dec 30 01:16:16 2002

SQL> connect / as sysdba
Connected to an idle instance.
SQL> startup pfile=/opt/oracle/product/9.2.0/dbs/init.ora ORACLE instance started.

Fixed Size                   450600 bytes
Variable Size              41943040 bytes
Database Buffers             204800 bytes
Redo Buffers                 143360 bytes

ORA-00205: error in identifying controlfile, check alert log for more info

SQL> What's the problem ? I searched on the net, but I haven't found anything useful.
