The database does not issue "begin backup" or "end backup" by itself.
There must be a scheduled command somewhere that does this.
I have no experience with the SAP tools on an Oracle database so can't help
you with that.
Begin and end backup commands are logged in the alert.log file so you can trace there exactly when these commands where issued. The view V$BACKUP shows you the actual status (ACTIVE means in backup mode).

| Hello,
|
| we have the problem named after:
|
| last weekend (22.12.2002), we did a reorganisation of a tablespace
| with the tool "sapdba" from SAP.
| The reorg worked fine, but since after this reorg, the database loops at
| begin backup
| an end backup on this tablespaces.
| The database sets the tablespace to "begin backup" an ten minutes later to
| "end backup" and
| then starts again with "begin backup".
|
| We tried to set the tablespace manually to "end backup"; we also tried to
| restart the db, but
| the behavior mentioned still exists.
|
| We have Oracle 8.1.7.4.
|
|
| Does anybody knows a solution ?
|
| Please help,
|
| Regards, Matthias Arth
