I know you want to install 9i on SUSE, but I used the following 8i document, it is close. http://en.tldp.org/HOWTO/Oracle-8-HOWTO.html The internal of Oracle 9i is much different but installation is also quite similar from oracle 7 to oracle 8 to Oracle 9. Of course, certain screen is slight different. The same basic concept.

Basically, install oracle 9i on SUSE is much easier than installing on Red Hat, I have a lot of trouble for oracle 8i on Red Hat. And also 9i on Red Hat.

But Oracle 9i on SUSE seem to have no problem. Good luck.
