This probably implies that you don't have the 8.1.7 Oracle client installed. You probably have some older version.

  1. Download and install the 8.1.7 Oracle client (or the 9.2 Oracle client). One of the things that will be installed is the Oracle Universal Installer.
  2. Install whatever ODBC driver/ OLE DB provider updates that are appropriate for your client (i.e. 8.1.7.x ODBC driver on an 8.1.7 Oracle client).
