You might want to check out MetaLink Note 1020463.6 "Diagnosing ORA-3113
Errors" (for Oracle on Unix systems).
It's a very *remote* possibility that what I suggest next could be the problem. I say that because I had it happen on an older version ... and couldn't believe it happened. We had edited our init.ora file in vi and didn't have a final newline. We added a newline at the end of the file and voila! The same thing happened with listener.ora. Like I said, that was an older version ... so Oracle probably patched up that bug by now. But on the off-chance ... ;)
