Anybody can please confirm these version numbers for me?

So I've patched a development Oracle 8i server to the 8.1.7.4 patch release. Now when I do a

SQL> select * from v$version;

BANNER

Oracle8i Enterprise Edition Release 8.1.7.4.0 - Production PL/SQL Release 8.1.7.4.0 - Production
CORE 8.1.7.0.0 Production

the version number for the 'CORE' component look strange. It's still at 8.1.7.0.0. Is this normal or did something go wrong during my patching?
