You're probably right. They say 1993 for client server, it was first introduced in v5 which is definitely before 1993. And too few technical details so precious to me.

Looks like I goofed up with read-only consistency. Probably it was v4, still looking. Still remember that article, probably from Byte, which was definitely talking about snapshot-based read-only consistency and v6. Need to check.

Couple more things I remembered:

  1. Inline views: v7.1, undocumented. Documented and allowed in PL/SQL in 7.3.
  2. Stored PL/SQL objects: v7. PL/SQL in v6 allowed anonymous blocks only.
  3. union all: v7.
