You don't rent your application, you license it to them. While you can't do anything to their data, (it is their data, not yours), you do have control over your application as spelled out in your license agreement. Take time to review the license agreement that you handed to your client. It will spell out all the legalities that both parties have at their disposal.

Or do I hear that you don't have a license agreement?!?!?!?!
