See Nuno's reply. Standard edition is not licensable on a system 'capable of having' more than 4 processors. This may mean that if you installed on an 8 processor box it would shut itself down or even not install (but I doubt it). If your box can take more than 4 processors you need to be talking to oracle about licensing.
