Instead of a 8i database in the middle, would a Connection Manager running on 8i in the middle be a solution too? I have no environment (yet) to try this.

| Mark has the answer. We have tried this with an 8i database as the
"middle
| level" between 9i2 and 7.3.4 and it works. Of course, it's an awkward
thing
| to have to do and far from an ideal solution. But it does work.
